13 Things: May 2025
A taking stock, of sorts. And to share a little more of the personal.
Listening to as many eps as I can from these two podcasts: Akimbo by Seth Godin, and My Daily Business by Fiona Killackey. I took particular inspiration from Godin’s thoughts on cheap placebos and Killackey’s discussion on documenting what matters.
Reading my three recent book purchases and the local IGA catalogue:
This Is Strategy: Make better plans by Seth Godin
Handmade Houseplants by Corrie Beth Hogg
Is forgiveness really free? by Michael Jensen
Crafting knitted socks. It’s the perfect project to stash in your bag and complete a few rounds during stolen moments/waiting time throughout the day. It’s my first foray into variegated sock yarn, and I think I like it.
I’ll be knitting a contrasting toe colour. Socks without some kind of delineation between the foot and the toe will not happen on my watch.
Watching videos on how to make sleds for the table saw. Because I may or may not have added one to the arsenal. More about that another day.
Also watching House.
Writing out a 14-day timetable, covering both home life and the atelier. I always considered myself a person who does not do well with a strict routine; I feel like I’ve matured enough to try it on for size again.
Have you ever made yourself a timetable or similar? Did you stick to it?
Screenshotting the magnificent colour selection and placement from this Alessandra number. Glorious.
Committing to habits. A few months ago, I finished reading Atomic Habits by James Clear, and it’s turned my ship. This book was the catalyst for my timetable, too.
Have you read it? Have you made changes in your life to create healthy habits/shut down bad habits?
Questioning humanity.
Celebrating our boy’s eighteenth birthday. I have an adult child. Lol wot.
Eating the last of the red capsicums.
Drinking apple, strawberry and guava cordial with soda water and lots of ice. It has a texture not dissimilar to guavas themselves, and it is the prettiest of pinks.
Waiting for winter. I am over the heat. And the humidity. Bleugh.
Plotting travel plans with my sister. We’re going to see our parents in a few months and it is going to be absolute chaos and I am here for it.
Until next week, my friend.
